Akelina Lembo/studio owner

Akelina  has been dancing for 20+ years and hopes to dance for many more. She fell in love with ballet as a young student and her interest in dance soon expanded to tap, jazz and contemporary. Akelina has learnt from many different choreographers which has shaped her into the teacher she is now.

Akelina started teaching at Albany academy of dance when she was 16 as a workplace student and knew that she had found her dream job.

The number one reason Akelina loves what she does is because it brings so much joy to others, seeing a class smiling and laughing as they learn how do a pirouette or a jete , that joy is contagious. When its performance time as a teacher seeing the students hard work and dedication on stage is inspiring.

“I teach to make an impact, to develop artists and to connect as humans“

Simone Newton

Simone studied Ballet, Tap and Jazz in RAD and CSTD syllabus at various studios in Perth from the age of 5. This led her to studying Dance at WAAPA majoring in Contemporary Dance.

Upon leaving WAAPA, Simone was involved in Still Move Dance Laboratory and 2 Dance Plus - Dance and Education company. This is where Simone forged her interest in educating students in the world of Dance.

Simone and Her Husband Chris moved to Albany and opened Albany Academy of Dance, with the belief that any child can learn to dance if given the opportunity, and the benefits of Dance are more than just the choreography and Technique.
